    Finding Our Coaching Uniqueness Successfully

Coaches work with an increasing diversity of athletes and must face increasing demands, both from athletes and their families, as well as institutions, clubs, federations and fans. They play a variety of roles, which include, among others, that of educator, mentor, sports psychologist and business manager.

Both performance and organizational demands derive from their roles, with inconvenient work hours, frequent displacements and trips, limited time with family and risk of being fired when athletes do not perform as expected.

The FOCUS program aims to complement the skills of coaches according to their needs and goals, providing them with communication and leadership tools.

The Coach Role

Pep Guardiola referred to this last point when asked about Mourinho's resignation from Manchester United. On that occasion, Guardiola referred to the pressure and loneliness that coaches feel at times: "We coaches are alone. We are hired to win and if we don't make it, we already know what will happen. it depends on the results. When we win, we are good; when we lose, we are bad".

To be effective in their primary role, coaches need to develop competencies associated with each of these roles.

Program for Coaches

“All the coaches talk about movement, running a lot. I say it is not necessary to run that much. Football is a game that is played with the brain. You must be in the right place at the right time, neither too early nor too late.” Johan Cruyff
